First Communion

This post should have been done last night. When I sat down to do it, I got the pictures loaded then started writing and our friends came over with their kids and we sat around the chiminea and talked until midnight. Somehow, the post didn't get saved and someone decided to get on the computer so I'm doing it all again, from scratch. Perhaps it will be a better blog because of it.

Sadie in her finery, except the gloves. You'll see them in other pictures. Isn't she lovely?

And, you know what? She wasn't just lovely on the outside yesterday. She was lovely on the inside. Acting like a sweet, mature young lady. She was prepared for communion and knew why we take it and all the answers to all the questions. I'm just so proud of her.

One down, two to go.

Sadie with Nanny, Parrain, and Nonnie at the church.
In the pew, awaiting the big event.
Her hair. It was very hot in the church so it fell quickly. I was hoping for it to last at least an hour or so. Oh well.

Sadie and her proud parents. This proud parent didn't get to actually witness the whole event. I was out with Anna. However, there is a video out there that we will purchase so I can relive it. Plus, Sadie went with me to church today so we took communion together. It was a special moment.
With Nanny and Parrain afterwards at the brunch.
During their communion preparation, they have to make a banner. This is what Sadie came up with.

Nanny being silly - I mean, being Nanny.

After stopping at a garage sale on the way home in her finery. I nearly had a heartattack that she was out in her dress.
New kitty picture. Doesn't she look sweet, hugging her kittens?

Oh, my, Wicked!!!!!

Today was the day. The day I've been waiting for since I don't remember. The day we go to see....Wicked!

I would just like to say "OH MY GOODNESS"!!!! Excuse my language but that was the best freakin' show I've ever seen. So worth the wait.

The special effects were superb, the singing so great, the costumes amazing...just unbelievable. If you have the chance to go see it...DO NOT PASS IT UP!

This is a picture of the lady who played "Elfaba" (the wicked witch of the West). She's beautiful as you can see...
...here. Obviously, Madeline and Sadie with her. Her name is Victoria Matlock and she can sing like nobody's business. So could Glinda.
This is the girls' playbills. The got Elfababa's autograph along with Doctor Dillamond (Tom Flynn) and Boq (Josh Lamon). I realize most of you won't know who those people are - characters or live people but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. So if you're dying to know, e-mail me and I'll explain them.

33 days

This will stay up in my home for 33 days, to say a prayer for and remember those who died this week at Virginia Tech.

Squeaking toy

This particular blog is not for the weak of heart. It shows nothing graphic but you can just imagine...

This morning I was working on the computer when I hear this squeaking noise and I thought "wow, Anna sure has that fine motor skill thing down" because it was squeaking pretty fast, as if an adult were squeaking a rubber duck or something.

It continued and I finally had to see what she was doing so I turn around to get up and I see Puss looking at Rosie who has the squeaking thing is his mouth. I thought "man, Rosie has that squeaking thing down!" because again, it was squeaking pretty fast.

I look closer and he drops his "squeaking toy" only to be revealed as a live young bird. Yipes!

Rosie and his "squeaking toy".

So, I pick up the bird on a piece of paper and place it out on the bush out front, hoping the parents would find it and take it home or something (hey, I like my dream world).

The bird in the bush.

I then put Anna down for her nap and since this is by her window, I check things out, only to see the paper on the ground. So, of course, I have to go investigate. I go out and I see the paper on the ground and NO bird anywhere. I see a cardinal and it's mate (I'm guessing here - I saw no wedding bands) and they seemed agitated so I thought they had found their baby and were trying to figure out how to - oh I don't know - get it back to it's nest? (Again, I like my dream world.)

So, to me, all is right with the world. I've done my good deed. I've saved a bird from certain death and dismemberment.

I walked back into the house and there's Rosie with that bird under the desk. aaarrrgggghhhh!

I pick the bird back up and put it in the hanging flower pot in the tree out front this time. Here's what happened while I was out there.

I left not too long after this so I'm not sure of the fate of this little feathered friend. The basket was empty of our little squeaker. But in MY world...Little baby bird cheaps and his parents hear it and fly down and feed it some mushed up worms giving it strength to hold on tight to it's Daddy's strong wings as Pops flies baby home to be happily reunited with it's siblings. That's what happens in My world. See why I like my world?

No more soccer, until the Fall!

Daily kitten picture, meow!
Tonight was Madeline's Soccer "end of season" party. It was held at Cici's Pizza. It was supposed to be after the game which was a make-up game for a rain out they had earlier. This game got rained out, also. At this particular Cici's, they give kids an ice cream sandwich. For some reason, Madeline doesn't like the wafer part so she takes that off and eats the ice cream only.
This is her trophy. She's so proud. It has her name on it.
Madeline and "Coach Lori"
Someone on the team brought soccer cupcakes. How cute is that?

Stormy day

I have already typed out this blog once this evening and I went through my evening last night and my entire day today. Then, trying to put the video on here, I lost everything. It exhausted me thinking about putting all that back on here (it exhausted me living through it the first time) so this is the "kinda condensed" version.

Miss Sadie and my mom are in Houston this weekend to shop with Sadie's Godmother (Nanny, my sister, Pamela) for her first Communion dress. I've seen a very tiny picture of their choice and it's beautiful.

Meanwhile, Madeline had a birthday party to go to today after school. It was at Chelsea's Tea Room. Here are the highlights:

Well, OK, this is Anna. But, it's Anna while the girls are jumping in the bounce house. (It's INSIDE this place).

The birthday girl gets to be queen for the day. I don't know why it says "princess" on her chair.

The girls get to choose party dresses and play dress up. This is Madeline's "before" picture.

Her "after" picture.
Gettin' all dolled up.
Madeline with Caitlin...ooops...Queen Caitlin.

This is her cornating "Princess Madeline".

Anna, trying to ascend the throne.
After "tea" and light snacks, the girls get to parade around the outside while their adoring fans wave to the royalty.

After the party. We had just enough time for us to go home and get Mads changed into her soccer uniform for team pictures. (Shameless plug...Major Images Photography does BEAUTIFUL work. You should see the pictures they have on the walls.) OK.... back on track. During this time, a bad line of storms is moving in and all of us parents are watching the clock and wondering if we're going to get out of there in time to make it home to safety. Finally, we're done and off we go. When we got outside the sky looked HORRIBLE. I was very nervous but tried not to let Madeline know. Off I went to outrun the tornadic looking sky.

I started taking pictures of it.

Looks ominous, doesn't it?

This picture is when we were being whisked away by the tornado. Not really. I was taking a picture while I was driving. I know, not a smart thing. But, had there been a tornado in this picture y'all would be calling me "brave", not "not smart".

I thought I was getting a video of a tornado in this clip. Watch it then, I'll explain.

Did you hear the freight train? Well, while you are sitting at a red light, hail hitting your van, hearing the tornado sirens, looking at the tornadic sky, you don't realize there is an actual train going by. I truly was wondering where the heck the tornado was. Where were we going to hide? We were certainly in a quandry. However, then I saw the train and I felt much better.

Now for your kitty pics of the day.

No name little cutey.

Thursday!

On Sunday, the girls were given (thank you, Michele) some very cute sidewalk chalk. You can see, here, it is in the shapes of butterflies and turtles and ice cream cones. Totally cute, came in a little backpack. Sadie finally got to get creative with it but not for long. More ornate and a larger quantity of pictures will be forthcoming, I'm sure.
Conrad's greatest fear came into exsistance today. Milkshake, the feline interloper, decided to have her kittens in the girls' closet. This picture is not for the squemish. She's just cleaning them up here. There are five of them. The plan is to go ahead and see them through the next 6-8 weeks then take them to Petland (assuming they still need kittens) and take Milkshake to be adopted at the Humane Society. We cannot have yet another cat around and she's really a sweet cat so I'm sure someone will adopt her. And if you believe differently, please let me stay in my dream world - unless you are willing to take her.

The girls couldn't stand being away from the kittens. I had to practically chain them to a post to keep them from picking them up. And, after I took this picture I woke them up and made them move. I didn't want them to squish the kittens. I may not want them forever but I don't need their untimely death on my concience.

Anybody need a kitten? I'll have 5 of them ready in 6-8 weeks.

Easter Pictures 2007

Here are just a few of the pictures I took in my "home studio" this week.

Anna was NOT a good subject on picture day. She wanted nothing to do with sitting still or even standing still. This is about as good as it got by herself.
Sadie on the other hand was pretty as a picture and posed wonderfully.
These are my favorite shots of Madeline. The top one because it shows her whole dress and the bottom one because....she's just so darn cute in it. It's just her.

And, of course, we got the Easter eggs out.

See (in the video) how demure my lovely daughters can be.

Anna has found her basket. Cute ears, Anna!
Madeline during the egg hunt. We only hid 102 of those eggs you saw in the previous picture and video. My saint of a mother filled most of those eggs while I was gone to church on Saturday night.
Mary, keeping watch over the egg.
Jon, loving his "SpongeBob Bunny pants" Easter goodies.

Snow showers bring Easter eggs?

Today was "girls day out". Nonnie is here and here she is with her "Winner's crown" on. Looks like she might be the snow princess today since we had snow showers today. (For real, for those out-o-towners.) She got that crown (I reluctantly tell you) by beating me at cards last night. Madeline made it for the winner. Not only that, but now Mads is her "best, best, best, best girl". I would be the recipient of that if I had won. Oh well, to the victor go the spoils.

The girls outside Half-Price Books. A "must stop" during girls day out.

While we were away, Anna took advantage, drinking after Daddy. We wonder what was in that "Point Beer" stein.

Mads being creative with eggs.

Even Anna got to dye eggs.

Looks like Mads dyed more than just eggs.
OOPS! Hmmmm....what was in that stein?

I hope you all have a lovely Easter. May God bless you on this most blessed of days.
